UBT251: the 24-week phase 2 obesity results

Which trial arm produced the 19.7% weight-loss headline?

Who was studied?

Chinese adults with overweight plus a weight-related condition, or obesity; mean baseline BMI was 33.1 kg/m². Participants received weekly UBT251 or placebo.

Participants
205 Chinese adults
Duration

What did the study find?

The 4 mg target arm starting at 1 mg had 19.7% least-squares mean weight loss, versus 2.0% with placebo. The other 4 mg starting-dose arm had 16.2%; the 6 mg arm had 18.7%.

What should you keep in mind?

A conference abstract with less detail than a full trial report. Gastrointestinal events were most frequent, mainly mild to moderate. Differences between arms do not prove an optimal personal dose.

Why it matters

Keep the starting-dose arm, population and 24-week endpoint beside the headline. This was not a head-to-head Retatrutide comparison.
